Yours,
Li Hua
Dear Dickon,
I have received your letter and I am glad to give you some suggestions.  I think the most important thing is not to be disappointed. Many students find it difficult to write well. In my opinion, if you want to improve your writing, you can do the following things: First, do some study with set phrases and sentence structures. Keep a list of them and then try to make some sentences with them. Second, read as much as possible. There are many things that can’t be learnt at a time. You must read them in books for many times. Then you’ll be able to use them correctly. So, in order to write well, you must learn to read much. Finally, you’d better recite some good passages.
Good luck to you in your writing.
Yours,
Li Hua
亮点:本篇作文一开始就用一个并列句点出建议的原因: “I have received your letter and I am glad to give you some suggestions.”和宾语从句“I think the most important thing is not to be disappointed. Many students find it difficult to write well.” 接着用一个短语“In my opinion,”引出自己的建议,使用一个条件状语从句“if you want to improve your writing, you can do the following things:” 展开建议的内容。再使用顺序连接词“First,…second,… then,… so,… finally” 把要点连接起来,同时使用各种句式,如2个祈使句“First, do some study with set phrases and sentence structures. Keep a list of them and then try to make some sentences with them. Second, read as much as possible”,一个定语从句“There are many things that can’t be learnt at a time.”同时还使用一些提建议的语句如“you must…”“you’d better…”

Thank you
Dear class,
Today I’d like to share with you the proverb “Time and tide wait for no man.”
I read it in an English magazine for middle school students. I like it very much for two reasons. First it is very easy to remember because all the words used are very simple. Second, this proverb always encourages me to make good use of my time to study. Next time, if you happen to meet someone who is wasting too much time playing computer games, you can say to him, “Time and tide wait for no man. Go to study now!” Of course, you can also say it to yourself when you feel lazy and don’t want to do anything.
Thank you

22. What does it mean to say that we live in a world of persuasion? It means that we live among competing interests. Your roommate’s need to study for an exam may take priority(优先)over pizza. Your instructor may have good reasons not to change your grade. And the object of your romantic interest may have other choices.
In such a world, persuasion is the art of getting others to give fair and favorable consideration to our point of view. When we persuade, we want to influence how others believe and behave. We may not always prevail — other points of view may be more persuasive, depending on the listener, the situation, and the merits of the case. But when we practice the art of persuasion, we try to ensure that our position receives the attention it deserves.
Some people, however, object to the very idea of persuasion. They may regard it as an unwelcome interruption into their lives. Just the opposite, we believe that persuasion is unavoidable — to live is to persuade. Persuasion may be ethical(合乎道义的)or unethical, selfless or selfish, inspiring or degrading. Persuaders may enlighten our minds or prey on our vulnerability (弱点). Ethical persuasion, however, calls on sound reasoning and is sensitive to the feelings and needs of listeners. Such persuasion can help us apply the wisdom of the past to the decisions we now must make. Therefore, the most basic part of education is learning to resist the one kind of persuasion and to encourage and practice the other.
Beyond its personal importance to us, persuasion is necessary to society. The right to persuade and be persuaded is the bedrock of the American political system, guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution(美国宪法).
