Abstract: Edgar Allan Poe and Pu Songling came from different nations and lived in different times, and they both achieved notable ess in horrible fiction. They both wrote many stories about death. This thesis attempts to analyze the similarities and differences on the theme of death paring their works. It further explores the cause of their differences on the theme of death—the influence of their different religions.
