摘要:埃德加·爱伦·坡是美国19世纪诗人、小说家及文学批评家。其最具影响的恐怖小说既继承哥特传统又对其进行发展。《黑猫》是坡最优秀的恐怖小说之一。小说继承哥特小说的主题和题材的选择及气氛营造,以表达其对世界和人类内心世界的哲学观。但坡也革新传统的创作方式,开创心理分析法和象征主义技巧,以营造更恐怖的气氛。坡对哥特风格的继承与发展使哥特小说地位有质的飞跃。此外,其创新对现代主义作家产生重要影响。

Analysis of Allan Poe’s Inheritance and Development of Gothic Novel in Black Cat
Abstract
Edgar Allan Poe is an famous American poet,novelist and literal critics in the 19th century What influences the American literature most is his horror horror novels not only inherit traditional gothic novels but also develop and innovate gothic features .The Black Cat is considered one of the finest horror tales ever created by the story, Allan Poe borrows such traditional gothic features as the unusual themes and subjects of death,terror and the gloomy atmosphere to express his philosophy of the society and humans' soul. This makes his novels have similar aesthetic characters and acceptance effects. However, based on some features of traditional gothic novels, Poe's horror tales have changed the traditional way of writing and pioneered psychoanalysis and symbolism to an atmosphere of stronger terror. His inheritance and development of gothic features lead gothic novels out of light literature to the classics, and out of a marginalized position to a highlighted one. Additionally, his innovation of writing techniques greatly impacts such later modernists as Charles Baudelaire and Dostoevsky.
