i come to this magnificent house of worship tonight because my conscience leaves me no other choice. i join you in this meeting because i am in deepest agreement with the aims and work of the organization which has brought us together: clergy and laymen concerned about vietnam. the recent statements of your executive committee are the sentiments of my own heart, and i found myself in full accord when i read its opening lines: "a time comes when silence is betrayal." and that time has come for us in relation to vietnam.
the truth of these words is beyond doubt, but the mission to which they call us is a most difficult one. even when pressed by the demands of inner truth, men do not easily assume the task of opposing their government's policy, especially in time of war. nor does the human spirit move without great difficulty against all the apathy of conformist thought within one's own bosom and in the surrounding world. moreover, when the issues at hand seem as perplexed as they often do in the case of this dreadful conflict, we are always on the verge of being mesmerized by uncertainty; but we must move on.
and some of us who have already begun to break the silence of the night have found that the calling to speak is often a vocation of agony, but we must speak. we must speak with all the humility that is appropriate to our limited vision, but we must speak. and we must rejoice as well, for surely this is the first time in our nation's history that a significant number of its religious leaders have chosen to move beyond the prophesying of smooth patriotism to the high grounds of a firm dissent based upon the mandates of conscience and the reading of history. perhaps a new spirit is rising among us. if it is, let us trace its movements and pray that our own inner being may be sensitive to its guidance, for we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness that seems so close around us.
over the past two years, as i have moved to break the betrayal of my own silences and to speak from the burnings of my own heart, as i have called for radical departures from the destruction of vietnam, many persons have questioned me about the wisdom of my path. at the heart of their concerns this query has often loomed large and loud: "why are you speaking about the war, dr. king?" "why are you joining the voices of dissent?" "peace and civil rights don't mix," they say. "aren't you hurting the cause of your people," they ask? and when i hear them, though i often understand the source of their concern, i am nevertheless greatly saddened, for such questions mean that the inquirers have not really known me, my commitment or my calling. indeed, their questions suggest that they do not know the world in which they live.
in the light of such tragic misunderstanding, i deem it of signal importance to try to state clearly, and i trust concisely, why i believe that the path from dexter avenue baptist church -- the church in montgomery, alabama, where i began my pastorate -- leads clearly to this sanctuary tonight.

good morning everyone!
my name is jie lidi. today, my topic is: “confidence”. as we all know, failure is the mother of success. but what i want to say is that success is the child of confidence. without confidence, things can become negative and uncomfortable. i remember, during an english class, i wanted to make a sentence using the word "listen". i should have said: "i listen to the voice of america" but i was too nervous and said "i listen to the noise of america". everybody in the class laughed. since then i wanted to train myself to be confident. now, confidence makes me brave and courageous. take this speech for example. i wanted to enter this competition, but i would feel very embarrassed if i made mistakes. just then, i thought about my dream. my dream is to become a scientist when i grow up. if i am not confident, how can i overcome difficulties i face? if i am not confident, how can i succeed in developing myself in the future? i will do it! today, i am making a speech in public and i feel proud and confident!
i am sure, in the future, with confidence, i will go forward-always forward. confidence will make my dreams come true!
thank you!

what caused the financial crisis? i think we can sum up the cause of our current economic crisis in one word greed. over the years, mortgage lenders were happy to lend money to people who couldn t afford their mortgages. but they did it anyway because there was nothing to lose.
these lenders were able to charge higher interest rates and make more money on sub-prime loans. if the borrowers default, they simply seized the house and put it back on the market. on top of that, they were able to pass the risk off to mortgage insurer or package these mortgages as mortgage-backed securities.
easy money! and what went wrong with our financial system? the whole thing was one big scheme. everything was great when houses were selling like hot cakes and their values go up every month. lenders made it easier to borrow money, and the higher demand drove up house values. higher house values means that lenders could lend out even bigger mortgages, and it also gave lenders some protection against foreclosures. all of this translates into more money for the lenders, insurers, and investors.

everybody will meet all kinds of difficulties during their lives, of course, they are willing to accept success, but the fact is that no one can win all the time, they will meet failure now and then. fail is an unpleasant thing to face, people treat fail a bad thing. while for me, i think we can learn from failure and be a better man.
everyone is afraid of facing failure, because failure brings them the sense of frustration. when facing failure, people choose to avoiding talking about it, they feel that they will be looked down upon by others. indeed, no one likes to failure anything, they want to be successful all the time.
if people change their idea about failure, they can see the positive side. there is an old saying that failure is the mother of success, which means that people will learn from failure and make preparation for the success. so failure is not that hard to face, if people take right attitude towards it, they will gain success soon.
in a word, failure is not a bad something, it can bring success, only if people treat it right.

by the time john pulled into the little town, every hotel room was taken."you've got to have a room somewhere." he pleaded. "or just a bed--i don't carewhere."
"well, i do have a double room with one occupant," admitted the manager,"and he might be glad to split the cost. but to tell you the truth, he snores soloudly that people in adjoining rooms have complained in the past. i'm not sureit'd be worth it to you."
"no problem," the tired traveler assured him. "i'll take it."
the next morning, john came down to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy- asked about how he slept, he replied, "never better."

"how'd you manage that?"
"he was already in bed, snoring away, when i came in the room," john said."i went over, gave him a kiss on the cheek, said, 'goodnight, beautiful.' withthat he sat up all night watching me.

i was one of the only kids in college who had a reason to go to the . box at the end of the day, and that was mainly because my mother has never believed in email, in facebook, in texting or cell phones in general. and so while other kids were bbm-ing their parents, i was literally waiting by the mailbox to get a letter from home to see how the weekend had gone, which was a little frustrating when grandma was in the hospital, but i was just looking for some sort of scribble, some unkempt cursive from my mother.
and so when i moved to new york city after college and got completely sucker-punched in the face by depression, i did the only thing i could think of at the time. i wrote those same kinds of letters that my mother had written me for strangers, and tucked them all throughout the city, dozens and dozens of them. i left them everywhere, in cafes and in libraries, at the ., everywhere. i blogged about those letters and the days when they were necessary, and i posed a kind of crazy promise to the internet: that if you asked me for a hand-written letter, i would write you one, no questions asked. overnight, my inbox morphed into this harbor of heartbreak -- a single mother in sacramento, a girl being bullied in rural kansas, all asking me, a 22-year-old girl who barely even knew her own coffee order, to write them a love letter and give them a reason to wait by the mailbox.
well, today i fuel a global
