【学习目的】
理解并掌握酒店的房间类型(room types)。
掌握散客及团体客人在酒店入住(chek in)时的对的环节及体现措施。
理解酒店前台(front desk)的服务程序。
Section 1: Introduction
The tourists are from abroad, they can be divided into two kinds—the individual guest and the group guests. Individual guest[1] means that guests are no more than ten person, there are no tour leader in the group; while group guests means that the number of the group is more than ten, as usual, there must be a tour leader in the group to take care of the guests. So the service procedures to the two kinds of people are different.
While showing the individual guests to the hotel, the tour guide must remind them to get their passports ready, and he must tell some specific information of the guests to the front desk[2], such as the number of the guests, the number of the rooms, the name of the travel agency, the name of the person who reserves the rooms…etc., in order to avoid of making mistakes.
Because the guests may have difficulties in communicating, the tour guide should try his best to offer the best service to the guests, he should explain all kinds of possibility to help the guests to check in. Therefore, the tour guide must be quite familiar with the room types. As usual, there are single rooms, twin bed rooms[3], double rooms[4], suite and deluxe suite.
The tour guide must make sure about the room type the guests need and help the guests with the formalities. The guests should show their passports to the front desk, sometimes, the clerk in the front desk will fill in the registration form[5] with the information shown on the passports, sometimes, the hotel will ask the guests to fill in the form by themselves, at this time, the tour guide should help the guests who have difficulties, so the tour guide must be quite familiar with the registration form, usually, the following information must be included although different hotels have different forms,
they are: surname (family name), given name (first name), sex, age, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, passport number, reason of stay, arrival date, departure date, type of visa and signature. If the guests have difficulties in understanding, the tour guide must explain each item to them. After finishing all the formalities, the guests can get their room keys, as an experienced tour guide, he must make every arrangement well in order not to bother the guests later, so before letting the guests go to their rooms, the tour guide must tell them the location of the elevator, the time and the place for assembling and other necessary information.
The procedure of helping group guests check in is a little different from that of individual guests. As usual, there will be a tour leader in the group, and he will have a group visa[6], and the necessary information of the guests are shown on it, so it’s unnecessary for the guests to show their passports at the hotel. The tour guide should communicate with the clerk at the front desk first and make sure he can get the right rooms, then,
