Concept
Tectonic modeling is the experimental methods and or the experimental processes by which the geometrical and physical characteristics of geological bodies are reconstructed, their formation, evolution and mechanism are analyzed.
TASK OF TECTONIC MODELING
Searching the history
Understanding the present
Forecast the future
SIGNIFICANCE OF TECTONIC MODELING
e the difficulty of the geological time scale
e the difficulty of the limitation of human direct observation
e the difficulty of the higher nonlinear of the tectonic processes
Be helpful to the need for higher output with fewer investment
HISTORY OF TECTONIC MODELING
From the birth of geology to 20’s of last century: reconstruction of shape
Form 30’s to 50’s of last century: considering similarity
From 50’s to 70’s of last century: quantitative physical modeling
From 70’s of last century to now: quantitative physical modeling methods are getting more and more perfect, numerical modeling develop very fast
