Good afternoon. The topic of this unit is about shopping. I divide this unit into five periods. My presentation is about the first period which is from 1a to 1c. The new principle of this textbook is “learn by doing, learn through doing.” I’ll try to make the class connected with daily life so that the students can understand the knowledge easier.
The students in Grade 1 are curious but worried and shy. They are interested in English but afraid of making mistakes. So I think it is important to encourage them to think and solve the problems. They need perceptions, practice, and participation.
According to the features of the students, I generalized three language focuses in this period. The first one is to help the students understand the new words. The second one is to get the students to use the plural forms of nouns correctly. The third one is to get the students to master the structures: “---How much are these pants? ---They’re 9 dollars.” The last one is also the anticipated difficulty of this period.
Since the students have learnt English for several years, and they have got basic ability of listening and speaking, so I set my teaching objectives as follows.
