want是动词“想要”的意思,其后可跟名词构成want sth.,意为“想要某物”;其后若跟动词则须跟动词不定式to do,即构成want to do sth.,意为“想要干…….”,want的同义词是would like,即want sth.= would like sth. want to do =would like to do。例如:
I want an apple. 我想要个苹果。
He wants an English book. 他想要本英语书。
