Jin Yong is the pen name of Zha Liangyong (查良镛). He was born on February 6th, 1924, and he started to write his first kongfu novel when he was 31–year-old.

Jinyong wrote a total of 15 pieces, of which one ("Sword of the Yue Maiden") is a short story and the other 14 are novels and novellas of various length.
