Neil Armstrong, when he first arrived on the moon, said,“ That is a small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind.” But today space research costs a huge amount of money. Some people think the investment in space research should be spent on helping the poor people. Do you agree?
Neil Armstrong said that the landing on the moon was a huge step for mankind. However, space research has been blamed for its tremendous cost. Some hold that the government should spend money on helping the needy people, but I think space research is beneficial to the whole human race in the long run and should be supported.
First, through space research, we can find more living space suitable for the human race. The earth has e so crowded with the increase of human populations. Moreover, serious pollution has resulted in the destruction of many habitable lands for humans. Some areas, if suitable for living, are infertile and thus can not produce enough food. If, through space research, we can find a with similar atmosphere and fertile arable land, it will benefit people across the world.
Secondly, we are experiencing severe energy crisis and the need of finding alternative energy is extremely urgent. Many fossil fuels such as coal, petrol and natu
