How do we know if an LC is subject to UCP600?
An LC is subject to UCP600 if it expressly so indicates.
What about the LCs sent by MT700s? Are they subject to UCP600 without the express indication?
Since 11/18/2006, MT700s have no longer been automatically subject to UCP (latest edition).

New mandatory field (40E) in MT700 for applicable rules as follows:
- UCP LATEST VERSION
- EUCP LATEST VERSION
- UCPURR LATEST VERSION
- EUCPURR LATEST VERSION
- ISP LATEST VERSION

New optional fields (44E & 44F) in MT700 for transport dox as follows:
44E for port of loading or airport of departure
44F for port of discharge or airport of destination
44A and 44B are now for any transport other than sea only and air only

An LC was issued by Wachovia Charlotte to expire on 4 July 2007, Wed.
The LC is available with any bank.
If the beneficiary presents the documents to their bank on 5 July 2007, will it be too late?

Yes, it will be too late if the beneficiary presents the dox to a bank in the bene country (which is not USA) on 5 July 2007, Thu.
No, it will NOT be late if the beneficiary presents the dox to Wachovia Charlotte on 5 July 2007, Thu.
