Japan, US launch biggest ever joint drill Updated: 2010-12-03 10:51 From China Daily
Japan and the United States launched their biggest ever joint military exercise Friday amid(围绕) tensions on the Korean peninsula. The drill was planned before the DPRK and the ROK exchanged fire last week es just two days after a US and South Korean show of military force aimed to deter(制止) Pyongyang(平壤).

China’s attitudes: “All relevant parties ought to do more to benefit the maintenance(维护) of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, and not the opposite. Military alliances and displays of force cannot solve the Korean Peninsula issue and the US-Japan alliance should not damage the interests of third parties including China. The parties involved should keep calm and exercise restraint(克制) and settle disputes(解决争端) peacefully through dialogue and consultation”, said JiangYu.
