Developing Your Word Power
Work on Vaguely Familiar Words
One of the best groups of words to begin with are those
that are vaguely familiar— those that you have heard or
seen before but cannot precisely or accurately define.
Use Words to Remember Them
No matter how much time you spend recording and
looking up words, you are most likely to remember
only those you use fairly soon after you learn them.
Forgetting occurs extremely rapidly after learning
unless you take action to use and remember what you
have learned.
Learning Multiple Word Meanings
Actually most words in the English language have
more than one meaning. You can see that there is
considerable opportunity to expand your vocabulary
by ing aware of additional meanings of words
you already know.
