I don’t like any tragic stories before read Waterloo Bridge .The beautiful but sad story attracts me lot. It’s a dream world of sentiment which are worthy reading, mending and chewing.
The whole novel tells us a love story between an officer Colonel Roy Cronin and a ballet dancer Lester Myra. The story was expressed by ironic overtone through a tie-up at the beginning and end.
In the morning of September the 3rd, 1939, the English Prime Minister announced that great Britain is at war with Germany .The whole London are earnestly reminded of the emergency orders already issued .
Roy went to Waterloo Station . He standed on the Waterloo Bridge .He took out a lucky charm from his pocket .The rises before his eyes……
It is during World War I ,Roy was enjoying his leave .He came across Myra on Waterloo Bridge during a raid warning out. In the Shelter , Roy and Myra chatted happily. Myra gave Roy her lucky charm .They left each other a great impression .
Then , Roy came to see Myra’s show . Myra saw him from the stage .
Roy passed Myra note when the show was over . But that was found by Madame Olga .And she asked Myra to read the note out before the whole class.
