[Abstract]
Today, listening, speaking, reading and writing is the order of English teaching in senior middle school. The teaching emphasis is put on listening and speaking, but not on reading. But taking the current state of senior English teaching into consideration, it is almost impossible to achieve this. This es up with a new order of teaching, that is, teaching English in the order of reading, listening, speaking and then writing. Reading ability is the most important for senior English learning.

1. Introduction
With the development of international exchange, English language plays a more and more important role in our daily lives, so we need to do better to meet the requirement. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the four basic skills demanded in English teaching. Of course, listening and speaking are the purposes. But, in middle schools, which skill of the four should be the most basic? This paper just deals with the order of English teaching in senior middle schools.
