Preface
Computing systems are widely used today and in many areas they serve the key
function in achieving plicated and safety-critical mission. At the
same time, the size plexity puting systems have continued to
increase, making its performance evaluation more difficult than ever before.
The purpose of this book is to provide prehensive coverage of tools
and techniques puting system reliability modeling and analysis.
Reliability analysis is a useful tool in evaluating the performance plex
systems. Intensive studies have been carried out to improve the likelihood for
computing systems to perform satisfactorily in operation.
Software and hardware are two major building blocks puting systems.
They have to work together essfully plete many puting
tasks. This book systematically studies the reliability of software, hardware and
integrated software/hardware systems. It also introduces typical models in the
reliability analysis of the worked systems, and then further
develops some new models and analytical tools.
“Grid” computing system has emerged as an important new field,
distinguished from conventional puting sys
