1. SCOPE
This standard specifies the emission limits of the type approval of emission pollutants and
production conformity inspection for light-duty vehicles, as well as the performance requirements
for the durability of pollution-control devices.
This standard specifies the measurement methods for vehicle’s exhaust emissions of pollutants
after a cold start, crankcase gaseous emissions, as well as evaporative emissions of vehicles
equipped with positive ignition engines, and durability of pollution-control devices.
This standard applies to vehicles equipped with positive-ignition pression-ignition engines
and having a maximum design speed no less than 50 km/h.
2 REFERENCE
The following standards contain provisions, which, through reference in this text, constitute
provisions of this standard. At time of publication the editions indicated were valid. All standards
are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to
investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below.

3. DEFINITIONS
For the purposes of this standard:
. Light-duty vehicles means vehicles of categories M1, M2 and N1 with a maximum mass no more
than t.
“Vehicles of category M1, N1, M2 and N2” means the vehicles defined in GB/T 15089.
Category M1 vehicles mean power-driven vehicles having at least 4 wheels or having 3 wheels
but with a manufacturer designed maximum mass exceeding 1 t, and used for the carriage of
passengers prising not more than 8 seats in addition to the driver's se
