Abstract: Traffic modes which mainly rely on physical force, generally including pedestrain and bicycle, are called Non-motorized Traffic(hereinafter named NMT), NMT system plays a key role in improving the spatial functions of the city, and improving the life quality of urban residents. Firstly, this paper briefly introduced the main parts of the contents of Taiwan urban NMT System Planning Based on these experiences, the characteristics and functions of the urban NMT are summarized and the technical flow and content of urban NMT system planning is put forward.

Traffic issue is closely related to the traffic jam .energy consumption and emissions of green house gases in urban area. The traffic issue could be solved only through the Integrated land use and transport planning, decreasing the total amount of travel and a good anization.
