The notion of historical and cultural preservation passes not only historical
monuments and museum collections, but also protected structures, rare
professional knowledge, film and photography, and other cultural expressions and
manifestations. These may include rural heritage, industrial and technical ideas, and
modern architectural achievements. Heritage professions cover an ever-larger scope
of fields and methods. Some are linked to knowledge of the heritage
(art historians, dealers), others to its preservation (curators, architects, restorers, art
trades). For all these types of training, it is advisable also to refer to the entries for
architecture, book, plastic arts, and various university programs.

Main fields of study
The following programs, overseen by the ministries of Education
and Culture, are open to foreign students who have earned an
appropriate degree and can demonstrate an adequate
