Abstract – A variety of shape recovery techniques has been widely applied to manufacturing. This paper describes an automatic modeling system that is able to scan object surface and produce high-resolution 3D model using low cost structured lighting. Comparing to laser scanners our system is economic and easy to deploy. Furthermore the system is self-adapted to work on dark and non-Lambertian surfaces where a laser range finder may fail. The recovered surfaces are shown to indicate the performance of proposed system. The generated models can be further exported to CAD software for post-processing.
Keywords – 3D reconstruction, structured lighting, reversed engineering.
I. INTRODUCTION
Model construction in field of manufacturing is an important activity. In the last puter-aid design tools have been widely used to build 3D contents. However in some cases such as automatic inspection and reverse engineering the surface measuring techniques are preferred rather puter graphics approaches. Comparing to the use of CAD software the object measuring technique
