Description of Problem
Background Information and General Overview
A team of about eleven students will be developing and producing a solar solar-powered vehicle pete in the Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge, a high school solar car race. The Challenge this year, which is occurring ing July, will be a cross country race from Texas to Colorado. The car is divided into numerous subsystems as follows: computer and data handling, battery and power distribution, frame and chassis, roll cage and driver monitoring, skin, braking, tires and wheels, air conditioning system and ventilation, steering, and the motor and speed control. There are numerous aspects of the car, such as the turn signals and headlights, that will need to pleted for the car to fully operate, but these are not anyone’s actual project. This specific project will be focusing on puter interface and data handling portion of the solar car (C+DH).
Significance of Research
The project consists of three ponents: a user interface through a dashboard-type display, reading in and analyzing data from sensors in other parts of the car, and sending and receiving data from a chase vehicle. The main purpose of the
