ABSTRACT: Weaker ability of enduring transition resistance is caused by particularity of parallel double circuit line configuration and zero sequence mutual induction etc, which seriously affects performance of relay. Therefore it is difficult for traditional distance relay to satisfy high-voltage parallel double circuit lines. Based on single-phase-to-ground fault of single line of parallel double circuit transmission line, the paper is in virtue of weighing coefficients of positive negative and zero sequence currents and measured impedance of traditional distance protection to calculate additional impedance which is used to revise methods of traditional distance protection, and advances adaptive method of fault impedance of transmission lines. Moreover the method estimating embranchment coefficients of positive and negative sequence current is presented. Results show that the adaptive method has excellent performance and effectively avoids transient overreaching and under-reach of distance protection.
