Foreword
Every 30 seconds, Daimler Financial Services closes a leasing or fi nancing
contract for a Daimler Group vehicle, which could be anything from a 40-ton
Freightliner truck in Anchorage, Alaska, to a smart fortwo in New York City, a
Mercedes-Benz S-Class in Singapore, a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter truck in Perth or
a Setra bus in Istanbul. That adds up to more than a million new contracts each
year around the globe.
There are currently around million passenger cars, trucks, buses and vans
with a Daimler Financial Services fi nancing or leasing contract on the road in
more than 40 countries. These vehicles have a book value for pany of
59 billion euros, making Daimler Financial Services one of the world’s leading
captive fi panies for passenger cars and the leading fi-
pany mercial vehicles.
Our primary mission is to support sales of Daimler Group vehicles and we
were once again essful in this mission in 2007, at the same time winning
numerous customer and dealer satisfaction awards. Despite the establishment
of a new fi nancial services business in North America, we were able to achieve
a return on equity of % in 2007, and to create value for the Daimler Group
once again.
