In a typical synthesis of mixed 26-facet and 18-facet Cu2O polyhedra, 1 mmol of Cu(NO3)
2· 3H2O was dissolved in 5 mLof water and 10 mL of ethanol, and then 1 mmol of stearic acid
(SA) were added into the above solution. After being sonicated in water for 10 min, the reaction was carried out in a Teflon-lined stainless steel autoclave at 180 °C for 12 h. The obtained solid was washed and filtered with ethanol and water several times and finally dried in air at 60 °C. For the synthesis of Cu2O octahedra, 2 mmol of Cu(NO3)2· 3H2O was used while other reaction conditions were kept constant.
