----从功能派翻译理论谈起

摘要:中药说明书的英译是中医翻译的一个重要分支。在中医国际化进程不断推进的今天,中药说明书的英译承担着重要的信息与文化交流任务,因此对其进行深入的研究就显得格外重要。本研究旨在通过分析目前中药说明书英译中所存在的问题,进而运用功能翻译理论来探讨解决这些问题的方法,提高中药说明书的英译质量。语料分析研究表明现今的中药说明书的英译存在很多问题,如结构词缺失、中药名和功效语的翻译不规范、译文不统一、表意不明确等。功能翻译理论的目的论、翻译要求和翻译的参与者等理论对于指导中药说明书的翻译可发挥积极的作用。

On Translation Strategies of Chinese Medicine Instruction from the Perspective of Functionalist Approaches
Abstract: As an important branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) translation, the translation of Chinese Medicine Instruction (CMI) assumes an indispensable part in enhancing the internationalization of TCM. In this research, the author explores the problems in today’s CMIs, and attempts to tackle these problems by employing the Functionalist Approaches. The findings show that the CMIs in English have the following problems: the structure terms in CMIs are plete, and drug names and efficacy terms do not have consistent standards, and some drugs have more than one English names. Consequently, most of the CMIs fail to convey the information of Chinese Medicine in a clear and acceptable way. Functionalist Approaches, including the skopos theory, translation brief and translation participants, can play an active role in solving these problems and perfecting the translation of CMI.

中药说明书作为中医药国际化的一个重要组成部分,它是载明中药药品重要信息的法定文件, 是选用药品的法定指南。当前,中药说明书在外国人群中的认可度还较低,这势必影响中医药的对外交流和出口。2011年欧盟根据2004年生效的《传统植物药指令》,要求从5月1日起,凡是未经注册的植物药将不得再在欧盟市场上作为药品销售和使用,此规定为中医药的国际化进程蒙上了一层阴影。因此,为了促进中医药在国际市场注册成功、弘扬中医药文化,研究中药说明书的英译,提高其英译的质量势在必行。本文旨在研究功能翻译理论在指导中药说明书英译中的作用,为中药说明书的英译找到适当的翻译途径,提高翻译的质量。需要说明的是,由于中草药的成分复杂,药性、药理等还有待研究,所以本文所提到的中药主要指的是中成药。
2. 功能派翻译理论
20世纪70年代,凯瑟琳娜·赖斯的《翻译批评的可能性与限制》一书的出版标志着德国功能翻译理论的诞生。德国功能翻译学派以“目的论”为其核心理论, 强调翻译目的和文本功能。它从新的视角审视翻译活动, 在宏观上将翻译纳入人类行为活动, 强调其目的性, 而不是传统语言学翻译理论所追求的简
