[Abstract]
Under the background of quality education, we have paid more and more attention to students’ spontaneous learning. Teachers begin to focus on students’ emotion of learning besides teaching them knowledge. As we all know, if students have interest in learning, they will learn it actively, spontaneously and happily. So stimulating students’ learning interest is very essential in English teaching. It is also a big problem that many researchers have been discussing for years. In this article, I firstly talk about the role of interest in learning English, and point out the importance of interest, then I list some methods that can motivate students’ learning interest, lastly I present examples which I get from my actual teaching experience to emphasize the important role of interest.

在素质教育体系下,我们对于学生的自发性学习给予了越来越多的关注。教师不再单纯的填鸭式教授学生应教的知识,也开始关注学生的情感学习,学习情绪。纵所周知,如果学生对学习感兴趣,他们就会主动学习,并且积极投入愉快的学习。因而在英语教学中激发学生的英语学习兴趣是非常关键的。兴趣问题也是教育研究者们多年来不断进行研究和探索的一个问题。本文首先从一些现代化教学设施的运用及教师教学方法的改变来体现了兴趣的重要性。接着针对兴趣的重要角色提出了激发学生学习兴趣的方法。最后我利用实际教学中的例子来强调兴趣的重要性。

Introduction
The 21st century is a scientific-advanced and technological-advanced society. And it is obvious that English plays an important role in the world. From a statistics in 1999, the people in the world who take English as mother tongue are 322 million. And there are nearly 20 countries taking English as official language. According to English mittee’s report, the population of studying English in the world approaches 1 billion, and in recent years the Chinese people who are learning English will be more than those who speak English as mother tongue. And it also estimates that to 2050, most people in the world can speak English. Now we can easily find English words everywhere. Obviously English has extended to every corner of the globe. China is also
