ABSTRACT
World literature is full of great love stories, but there are only few that make it through the centuries and are as well-known and loved today as they were decades ago. One of those writers who have the ability to leave an everlasting impression is Jane Austen.
Her novels undeniably play a significant role in the history of English literature. Over the years, scholars, laity as well as professionals, have approached Austen’s writing from various perspectives and hence innumerable dissertations, articles and books have been written about the author and her work in general and especially about her novel Pride and Prejudice.
After collecting a considerable amount of information, this paper discusses the theme of marriage in Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. This paper is divided into three parts: The first part briefly introduces the author and social background of Pride and Prejudice. The second part focuses on the basis and reasons of the three imperfect marriages: utilitarian marriage, sex-oriented and moral marriage. The third part analyses the basis and reasons of the perfect marriage. This paper aims to show that Darcy and Elizabeth’s marriage is the real and perfect marriage which Jane Austen expects to have and pursues, because it’s the bination of material life and spiritual life and includes the four important factors of a essful marriage -- fortune, love, status and knowledge.

摘要
世界文学的国度里充满了伟大的爱情故事,但是几个世纪过后仍像几十年前一样众所周知和备受爱戴的作品只有少数几部。其中的一个能够给人们留下永久印象的作家就是简·奥斯汀。
不可否认,她的小说在英国文学史中占据着很高的地位。多年来,学者,外行人以及专业人士,已从不同的角度探讨奥斯汀的作品。因此无数的论文,文章和书籍都评述过她和她的作品,特别是她的小说《傲慢与偏见》。
通过收集大量的文献资料,本文论述了奥斯汀《傲慢与偏见》的婚姻主题。本文主要分为三个部分:第一本分简要介绍了作者和作品的社会背景,第二部分分析三种不完美的婚姻,即实利婚姻、情欲婚姻和道德婚姻的基础和原因,第三部分分析了最后一种完美婚姻形成的基础和原因。这篇论文旨在说明达西和伊莉莎白的婚姻才是作者所期望和追求的真正完美婚姻,因为它是物质生活和精神生活的完美结合,包含了财产、地位、爱情和知
