ABSTRACT
Comparison of IRI with several sets of rocket measurements for various
heaght regions is presented. Conclusions are made on the reliability of IRI
for varlous conditions.
INTRODUCTION
In this paper results of parison wlth several sets of rocket
measurements are presented. Rocket measurements are of special value for
checking Ionospheric models. These measurements are more reliable than the
majorlty o~ ground based ones and (an contrast wlth satellate ones) give a
vertical profile at fixed locatlon and moment.
Still there are some contradictions between rocket results, obtained by
dafferent methods, so we tried to use for parison with IRI
homogeneous sets of data, obtained by the same method and ( in two cases)
by the same research t~am.
ELECTRON CONCENTRATION, 200-300 KM
To check IRI at altitudes of the F-2 layer (which is pared with
vertical radio sounding data) the resu]ts of [e]- measurements on board of
"Vertaca1" geophysical rockets by Gdalevach and has group [I-4] were used.
