INTRODUCTION
The information contained in this document is an excerpt from the FIBERBOND Installation
Specifications, . The intent of this document is to provide reference information to those
individuals involved in field welding FIBERBOND Fiberglass and posite
Piping Systems. It is not the intention of this document to provide the reader with full details for
performing fiberglass welding. In no way should this information be used as a substitute for
training. Personnel not properly trained to work with posites should not rely on
the information contained in this manual for specific instructions. Furthermore, any personnel
working with posites should be properly supervised.

MATERIALS
The following is a general list of materials used for field welding fiberglass-reinforced plastic. This list in
not necessarily plete list nor is it typical for all FRP field welding.
Glass Reinforcements
Glass fiber products should be carefully stored to prevent absorption of water and dirt. Use of dirty or wet
fibers can result in poor laminate quality, and therefore, should not be used.
Chopped Strand Mat – oz or oz/sq-ft chopped
strand mat is matrix of short, randomly oriented
chopped E-glass fibers. Chopped strand mat is used in
