enabled me to gain some academic achievements and work out the thesis. Without his
instructions,it would have been impossible for me to develop and elaborate the ideas
on color terms’ comparative study of English and Chinese in this thesis.

Abstract
Since every object in the wor1d has its color, there are a number of color terms
both in English and Chinese. As an ponent of vocabulary, color terms
have been explored by many linguists. This thesis, bringing color terms into the
aspects of human experience, attempts to do a cognitive research into the
understanding of English and Chinese color terms by employing the theory of
cognitive model and context so as to give a more specific
