There are so many people that I would like to thank.
First, my thanks go to my supervisor, Prof. Dario Floreano, for mak-
ing this thesis possible by accepting me in his team and providing sup-
port, guidance and freedom in the friendly and motivating atmosphere
of the laboratory.
