文档介绍：THEDELHIPOLICEACT,[27thAugust,1978.]AnActtoamendandconsolidatethelawrelatingtotheregulationofthepoliceintheUnionterritoryofDelhi..BEitenactedbyParliamentintheTwenty-ninthYearoftheRepublicofIndiaasfollows:-,,mencement.-(1)ThisActmaybecalledtheDelhiPoliceAct,1978.(2)ItextendstothewholeoftheUnionterritoryofDelhi.(3)eintoforceonthe1stdayofJuly,.-InthisAct,unlessthecontextotherwiserequires,-(a)"Administrator"meanstheAdministratorofDelhiappointedunderarticle239oftheConstitution;(b)"cattle"includes'elephants,camels,horses,asses,mules,sheep,goatsandswine;(c)"competentauthority",whenusedwithreferencetotheexerciseofanypowerordischargeofanydutyundertheprovisionsofthisAct,missionerofPoliceappointedundersection6oranyotherpoliceofficerspeciallyempoweredinthatbehalfbytheCentralGovernment;(d)"constable"meansapoliceofficerofthelowestgrade;(e)"Corporation"meanstheMunicipalCorporationofDelhiconstitutedundertheDelhiMunicipalCorporationAct,1957(66of1957),(f)"Delhi"meanstheUnionterritoryofDelhi;(g)"Delhipolice"or"policeforce"meansthepoliceforcereferredtoinsection3andincludes-(i)allpersonsappointedasspecialpoliceofficersundersub-section(1)ofsection17andadditionalpoliceofficersappointedundersection18;and286(ii)allotherpersons,bywhatevernameknown,whoexerciseanypolicefunctioninanypartofDelhi;(h)"eatinghouse"meansanyplacetowhichthepublicareadmittedandwhereanykindoffoodordrinkissuppliedforcon-sumptiononthepremisesbyanypersonowning,orhavinganyinterestin,ormanaging,suchplaceandincludes-(i)arefreshmentroom,boardinghouseorcoffeehouse,or(ii)ashopwhereanykindoffoodordrinkissuppliedtothepublicforconsumptioninornearsuchshop,butdoesnotincludeaplaceofpublicentertainment;(i)"municipality"mittee,theCantonmentBoardoranyothermunicipalbody,otherthantheCorporation,establishedbyorunderanylawforthetimebeinginforceinorinanypartofDelhi;(j)"place"includes--(i)anybuilding,tent,boothorothererection,w
