A Message from the Chief
Executive of Rio Tinto
Dear Colleagues
In the current technological environment we are benefiting from
working more collaboratively and having speedier access to
information. When we apply new technologies to operate more
effectively we must have confidence in the security of these systems.
Information security is a business responsibility shared by all
members of the management team. Also, we now have
responsibilities to our business partners, for example, to not transmit
viruses.
There are growing demands for the integration of information systems
both within Rio Tinto and amongst our business partners. This greater
interconnectivity of public and private has its rewards but also
increases our security risks. Our information security practices must
keep pace with these developments.
This means having the right attitudes and practices to ensure that our
systems are available when we want to use them, that the
