People from different social classes use different varieties of language. All social linguistic studies concern language ina social context, treating speakers as members of social groups. But from a sociolinguistic point of view, language is influenced not only by the speech situation but also by the social variation, such as age, class, etc. S ince human and society are related so closely that language, asa tool of munication , is influenced by society more or less. H owever, society is generally regarded asa hierarchical one and it is classified into different social classes. T herefore, language spoken by different people maybe marked on the trait of his or his specific social class. Hudson (2000) hold the view that one of the characteristics of the hierarchical social structure ofa country like Britain is that social class takes precedence over geography asa determinant of speech.
