Introduction
Eleven samples were delivered to the Core Laboratories Reservoir Geology
Group for scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis. The samples represent
parts of two formations (Niobrara Formation–8 samples; Lincoln member, Graneros
Shale–3 samples). FE-SEM (field emission scanning electron microscopy) was done on
argon ion-milled surfaces of all eleven samples. The objectives of the analysis include;
1) describe the texture and fabric of the samples, 2) identify and describe occurrences of
organic matter, and 3) describe the occurrence and distribution of open pores. X-Ray
Diffraction data (XRD) data (reported earlier) is also attached.
