G038-507618 DELOS DELOS: work of Excellence on Digital Libraries Instrument: Network of Excellence Thematic Priority: IST-2002- Technology-enhanced Learning and Ac cess to Cultural Heritage Demonstrator: VideoBrowse Start date of project: 01 January 2004 Duration: 4 years Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) Revision : 1 Demonstrator description (user manual) Video Browse is an application developed by Ima gelab, a research laboratory at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione, Unive rsity of Modena and Reggio Emilia. This software enables the user to analyze MPEG vide os in order to recognize the change of scene, that is divide the video into shots. When the application starts ( Img. 1 ), an “ instrument bar ”( Img. 3 ) and a menu ( Img. 2 ) is displayed at the top of the window with a list of p ossible operations. At the bottom of the window a “ status bar ” is visualized, this bar gets the information rega rding the loaded video. The user must open the file which he wants to elabo rate, selecting the voice “Open Movie” ( Img. 4 ) in the menu “File” or selecting the “Open Icon“( Img. 5 ) on the instrument bar. Consequently the first frame of the selected video will be displayed in a new child window ( Img. 7 ), and the navigation buttons collocated in the ins trument bar will be enabled ( Img. 6 ). (Image 1) (Image 3) (Image 2) (Image 4) (Image 5) In the bottom of main window it’s now possible to s ee the name of the loaded video ( Img. 8 ), the visualization of the video state, the curren t frame number, and the seconds elapsed from the beginning ( Img. 9 ). To help the user in the navigation of the video, di fferent commands are included in the “ Processing ” menu ( Img. 10 ). ? “Start/Stop”: activate/deactivate reproduction; ? “ Next Frame ”: display next frame; ? “ Previous Frame
