Abstract
The Shawshank Redemption is adapted from Stephen King’s novel, it was shooted in 1994. This movie differs from same kind of prison-escape movie. It shows the sincere friendship and warm feelings. So this film was very popular when it was run. This movie mainly shows us three things: freedom, friendship, and hope. It reflects the real social life, and creates several typical characters.
The paper aims at the analysis of the Shawshank Redemption figures of the character as the foundation, combined with the main plot to discuss the characters how they keep hope when they are in prison, pursue redemption and freedom constantly, and aims at exploring the theme of the movie: hope and freedom —redemption involving in the film.
The paper tries to analyze the important roles in the film and the inner significance of the important scenes. The paper also makes comparison between some important characters and between freedom and hope. Finally the paper reflects the inner significance of the film to readers, makes out the relationship between freedom and hope, and makes readers understand the importance of freedom and hope .then told people wherever you are, don’t give up , and keep hope in your mind Hope is a good thing. May be the best of things and no good thing ever dies.
