Introductions and Greetings
In English speaking countries unexpected visits from police officers are not welcome. Therefore , community police officers in china should wake an appointment before visiting any foreign newcomer , And when meeting the new comer for the first time, Politely make self-introductions and clearly state the kind and helpful purpose of their visit.
When being introduced to each other , usually the host (or the hostess) ,the man , the junior or the younger is introduced to the guest , the woman the supenlr or the senior ,When a couple is introduced , the husband is chtroduced hefore his wife.
To shake hands , the host (or hostess) , women, superiors, or seniors usually stretch out their hands first . English speaking people shake hands with a smile , but they don’t bow at the same time because they think it too humble to bow when shaking hands. When shaking hands with a woman, a wan should hold gently not the whole hand but only the fingers and keep a proper distance from the woman.
When greeting eachother after being introduced, call each other Mr.(Mrs., Miss or Ms.) followed by the full name (John Brown , Mary Brown ); It is considered too fanuilar to address the person you have only just met by his or her given name only. you may address a person only by his or her given name when you have become fanuilier with each other or you have got the person’s pernu’ssion .
