For many Americans, Thanksgiving is the only time when all members of a family gather. On Thanksgiving, people enjoy a long day of cooking, eating and talking.

The origin
In 1620, the settlers, or Pilgrims, they sailed to America on the May flower, seeking a place where they could have freedom of worship. （1620年，一些朝圣者（或称为清教徒）乘坐“五月花”号船去美国寻求宗教自由。）
After a tempestuous(狂暴的) two-month voyage they landed at in icy November, what is now Plymouth ,Massachusetts.（普里茅斯，马萨诸塞州）

Mayflower
五月花号（Mayflower）是英国移民驶往北美的第一艘船只。以运载一批分离派清教徒到北美建立普利茅斯殖民地和在该船上制定《五月花号公约》而闻名。
