Distinguished Guests,
Friends and Comrades,
Tonight, as we gather here to warmly celebrate the fortyseventh anniversary of the founding of our great country, the People's Republic of China, I would like to extend, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, our festive congratulations to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups who work hard and study diligently on all fronts，our cordial greetings to compatriots in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao and to overseas Chinese, and our deep appreciation to friends from other countries who are present at the reception and to those foreign friends who have shown interest in and rendered support to our modernization drive.
Forty-seven years ago, the proclamation of the founding of the People's Republic of China ushered in a new era in Chinese history. The Chinese people have since stood up. Over the past forty-seven years, the Chinese people of allethnic groups, led by the Chinese Communist Party, have made concerted efforts and brought enormous historic changes to the landscape of the country.
