Primary VZV infection, which usually occurs in children, results in chickenpox (varicella), after which the virus becomes latent in ganglionic neurons along the entire neuraxis. Years later, as cell-mediated immunity to VZV declines with age or from immunosuppression (such as in organ-transplant recipients or patients with cancer or AIDS), VZV can reactivate to cause zoster (shingles). Zoster is often followed by chronic pain

临床表现：
沿神经走行的疼痛，在疱疹结痂或愈合后发生
占9%-14%（60岁中50%，70岁中75%）
女性多见
多见于三叉神经的眼支和胸部
持续烧灼痛或穿刺痛
