Confucius Institute 　　孔子学院(Confucius Institute)即孔子学堂。它并非通常意义上的大学，而是推广汉语文化的教育和文化交流机构，是一个非营利性的社会公益机构。孔子学院最主要的一项工作就是给世界各地的汉语学****者提供规范、权威的当代汉语教材；提供最正规、最关键的汉语教学渠道。孔子学院总部设在北京，2021年4月9日挂牌。境外的孔子学院全部是其分支机构，关键采取中外合作的形式创办。孔子是中国传统文化的代表人物，选择孔子作为汉语教学品牌是中国传统文化复兴的标志。为推广汉语文化，中国政府在1987年成立了“国家对外汉语教学领导小组”，简称为“汉办”，孔子学院就是由“汉办”承接的。
　　2021年11月21日，全球第一所“孔子学院”在韩国首全部首尔挂牌。到2021年，全球将建成500所孔子学院和孔子课堂。
　　自2021年11月全球首家孔子学院在韩国成立以来，已经有260余所孔子学院遍布全球，成为传输中国文化和推广汉语教学的全球品牌和平台。
　　孔子学院是在借鉴国外相关机构推广本民族语言经验的基础上，在海外设置的以教授汉语和传输中国文化为宗旨的非营利性公益机构。它秉承孔子“和为贵”、“和而不一样”的理念，推进中外文化的交流和融合，以建设一个持久和平、共同繁荣的友好世界为宗旨。
