二、本课程的教学目的和任务
"Advances in Microbiology" is an elective for Bioengineering students. This course provides
prehensive and critical review of the work done on different areas of microbiology to
students, including agriculture, industry, medical science, bioremediation etc. By studying this
course, students should understand something about technical research of modern microbiology
progress and apply on the present condition from some abroad English periodical.

Chapter 1 Microbiology: introduction and history
Students should master: The history of microbiology; Introduction of viruses, procaryotes
and eukaryotes; Methods and tools in microbiology;
Key point of this chapter: The current development of microbiology;
Chapter 2 Microbial diversity
Students should master: Classification of microbiology; Microbial ics; Origin and
evolution and biodiversity in anisms; Evolvement of microbial (mutation and
mutagenesis); Significance and status of microbial diversity;
