Leisure Time
Work and leisure are generally separate in western countries. People talk about leaving work in the office, when they begin their weekend or go home at night. It is true to say that employees do not often socialize outside of work. They tend to have their own family and friends.
Many folk now acknowledge that work is demanding, and they also realize that regular relaxation is necessary for mental and physical health. Thus, the two-day weekend is highly valued and many people do not like to work overtime, even though it is paid overtime. While ‘clock watching’ is frowned upon in the workplace, employees are entitled to leave on time. Many have other responsibilities, such as picking up children, which employers are expected to understand.
