文档介绍:Executive Summary: Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes—2008 T hese standards of care are intended to provide clinicians, patients, re- searchers, payors, and other inter- ested individuals with ponents of diabetes care, treatment goals, and tools to evaluate the quality of care. While in- dividual preferences, comorbidities, and other patient factors may require modi?- cation of goals, targets that are desirable for most patients with diabetes are pro- vided. These standards are not intended to preclude more extensive evaluation and management of the patient by other specialists as needed. The mendations included are screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic ac- tions that are known or believed to favor- ably affect health es of patients with diabetes. A grading system devel- oped by the American Diabetes Associa- tion and modeled after existing methods was utilized to clarify and codify the evi- dence that forms the basis for the - mendations. The level of evidence that supports each mendation is listed after each mendation using the let- ters A, B, C, or E.
