On the completion of this thesis, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all
those who have offered me help during the course of my graduate study.
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to my supervisor,
Professor Wang Hong, for his continuous support and guidance in the past three years. To
me, his learnedness and enthusiasm in translation study is always admirable and inspiring.
He has walked me through all the stages of the writing of this thesis. Without his
illuminating instructions, this thesis could not have reached its present form.
