Abstract—Lactobacillus acidophilus La-1 was encapsulated as their biological activities[6-9]. In order to improve the survival
freeze-dried culture and its survival rates under various extreme rates of Lactobacillus acidophilus under extreme conditions,
conditions were investigated in this work. The survival rate of the Lactobacillus acidophilus was encapsulated as lyophilized
freeze-dried bacteria remained at % with the viable counts of culture powder using freeze-drying technology in this work.
×108 cfu/mL, while keeping at pH for 2 h, and the The resistance of the freeze-dried bacteria to acid, high
micronized culture was also tolerant to 6% NaCl. In % bile osmotic pressure, bile salts as well as the simulated
salt medium, the viable counts of Lactobacillus acidophilus La-1 gastrointestinal conditions were evaluated.
reached to ×109 cfu/mL, and it could also grow exposing to
% bile salt medium.
