A Study of the Translation of Cosmetic Instructions
——from the Perspective of Skopostheorie
Abstract
With the rapid development of Chinese economy and China’s entry into WTO, more and more commodities and products have come into our market, including cosmetics as an important part. Correspondingly, the translation of cosmetic instructions has become a significant and urgent task. However, Skopostheorie is a relatively new model on translational studies, and plays an essential role in the functionalist approach. Skopostheorie releases translation from the shackle of source text, and provides a new perspective to translation, especially the translation of practical texts. The present thesis confines the study on the translation of English-Chinese cosmetic instructions,and analyzes the translation techniques and strategies under the guidance the guidance of Skopostheorie, trying to prove that functionalist approach, especially the Skopostheorie, is an appropriate theory in guiding translation of cosmetic instructions.
