• The 1st quarter, with a % increase in sales including VAT on constant exchange rates, reflects
a good year beginning, with % coming parable stores and % from new stores.
After the impact of exchange rates of –%, sales decrease -%.
• In the group’s 5 biggest European countries - France, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Greece –
Carrefour’s domestic market, sales increase % and represent 82% of the 1st quarter total.
• The quarter is marked by a negative calendar impact of around -% (Easter in March in 2002,
in April in 2003). The 2nd quarter will have a positive calendar impact estimated at +%.
• In the first quarter, 3 hypermarkets, 25 supermarkets, 83 hard discount stores, 47 convenience
stores and 1 cash and carry have opened under the Group banners, a t
