Arousing Students’ learning Interest
Through English Songs
Problem identification
Before identifying my probe when their teacher takes only a minor helping role. I would like students to get used to being responsible for their own learning and not depend on the teacher all the time.
(4)The type of classroom tasks used----I think all of the above can be dealt with by using appropriate tasks in the lesson. If students like to sing English songs I have designed indeed, then I feel they can be shown the value of arousing students’ interest in these English songs.
Well, the next thinking I need to do is design, on the basic of the project rationale above, some oral activities that can prove my project my project hypothesis. I must fulfill one condition, that is, English songs must be better designed than the existing ones.
I believe that the problem with the existing English is that students have no real interest in learning English when they are singing these songs. So my new activities should have a real attractive meaning, so that the students have a real interest to do it.
To summarize, in my project, I decide to arouse my students’ interest in three ways. I would first design various activities and then ask them to do, in cooperating English songs. Next, I would ask students to tell me which activity they do like best. And lastly, I would choose some practical activities to carry out my English songs’ teaching and design relevant remedial exercises.
Based on the rationale, I’m going to use the Go for it! Students’ Book Grade Nine as the material. Since it is a large class, I must pay more attention to the following factors while designing the activities:
Give clear instruction;
Encourage the class to use English;
Control the noise;
Monitor the students’ practice;

Use various types of activities, especially English songs to arouse the Ss’ interest.
I have designed four activities to be tired out to prove my hypothesis in four weeks.
